Product Description:

The difference between MCDB 131 medium and traditional medium is that it contains trace elements, putrescine, adenine, thymidine, and higher concentrations of amino acids and vitamins. It is often used in combination with EGF, hydrocortisone, glutamine, and low-concentration serum and must be added according to the cell type.

Product Usage:

In addition to endothelial cells, MCDB 131 medium can also be used for other cell types, such as hepatocytes, smooth muscle cells, cardiomyocytes, etc.

Product ingredients:

L-glutamine (Glutamine)
It is an essential nutrient element in cell culture, but it is unstable in the solution and will spontaneously degrade. The medium without L-glutamine can adjust the amount of L-glutamine arbitrarily according to the research needs. Adding fresh L-glutamine or its substitutes is more conducive to the growth of cells.

Phenol red

It is used as an indicator of the pH value in the culture medium, continuously monitoring the pH value of the culture medium. At low pH, phenol red makes the medium yellow, while at higher pH, phenol red makes the medium purple. It turns red when the pH is 7.2-7.4, which is most suitable for cell culture. However, phenol red also has some disadvantages. Phenol red interferes with detection during flow cytometry analysis. In addition, the presence of phenol red in some serum-free media formulations can interfere with sodium and potassium balance.
