Ham's F-12 Nutrient Mixture (Ham's F-12 Nutrient Mixture) was designed by Ham in 1969 based on Ham's F-10 Nutrient Mixture, which was originally used for the serum-free culture of CHO cells.

Product Usage:

Ham's F-12 is often used as the basal medium for serum-free culture. It is especially suitable for the single-cell culture and cloning culture at low serum levels. After adding a serum, it is also widely used in the culture of cancer cells and primary cells, such as rats. Hepatocytes, rat prostate epithelial cells, chondrocytes, rat myoblasts, chicken embryo cells, etc. In addition, after mixing equal volumes of Ham’s F-12 and DMEM, the resulting DMEM/F12 medium is more nutritious and more widely used.

Product ingredients:

L-glutamine (Glutamine)
It is an essential nutrient element in cell culture, but it is unstable in the solution and will spontaneously degrade. The medium without L-glutamine can adjust the amount of L-glutamine arbitrarily according to the research needs. Adding fresh L-glutamine or its substitutes is more conducive to the growth of cells.

Phenol red
It is used as an indicator of the pH value in the culture medium to continuously monitor the pH of the culture medium. At low pH values, phenol red makes the culture medium yellow, while at higher pH values it makes the culture medium purple. PH When the value is 7.2-7.4, it is red, which is most suitable for cell culture. However, phenol red also has some disadvantages. Therefore, when using it, it is best to use a medium without phenol red. Phenol red interferes with detection during flow cytometry analysis.In addition, the presence of phenol red in some formulations of serum-free media interferes with sodium-potassium balance.
